HEAL CARES
Liberia's civil conflict (December 24, 1989 – August 2, 1997) left the country economically unstable, with lasting effects still felt today. Over 95% of Liberia's children — especially orphans and underprivileged youth — lack basic necessities. With most families living on just $2 a day, parents struggle to provide for their children, and according to UNICEF, early childhood development remains nearly non-existent in the country.
H.E.A.L, Inc.'s mantra guides our work: "We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves." We take that as our call to action — transforming lives, one child at a time.
H.E.A.L CARES is a program providing basic necessities, safe drinking water, sanitation, hygiene, and a healthy living environment to orphanages in dire need.
Who Benefits?
Orphanages, underprivileged children, and the communities we serve. We have supported over 5000 children since the organization’s inception.
Our Approach
H.E.A.L, Inc. partners with organizations supporting orphanages and underprivileged children outside Monrovia, Liberia's capital.
Through a stringent assessment process, and in collaboration with local partners, we identify orphanages in the most deplorable conditions and greatest need. Once selected, we implement projects tailored to that orphanages specific needs.
Program Methodology
Agreement: A Memorandum of Understanding is signed between H.E.A.L, Inc. and the partner organization or orphanage.
Assessment: A physical inspection and questionnaire determine need; results are submitted to H.E.A.L, Inc. for review.
Selection: H.E.A.L, Inc. USA makes the final decision on which orphanage(s) are selected for the annual project.
Implementation: H.E.A.L, Inc. Liberia manages and implements the projects, guided by H.E.A.L, Inc. USA.
Monitoring: H.E.A.L, Inc. Liberia monitors and evaluates activities, reporting back to H.E.A.L, Inc. USA.
