Rev. Dr. Tar-U-Way Richard Allen Bright, Sr.Rev. Dr. Tar-U-Way Richard Allen Bright, Sr. serves as the Senior Pastor of Turner Chapel AME. He maintains extensive pastoral, administrative and ministerial duties. Rev. Dr. Bright says his personal mission is easily summed up by the undeniable and unequivocal fact that he is no accident or coincidence in God’s cosmic order of things (Jeremiah 1:5; Psalm 139:13-15). He is destined and uniquely positioned to make a difference where God has positioned him (Jeremiah 29:11-13).Rev. Dr. Bright is an avid runner, enjoys working out daily, reading, dancing and playing with his two children. In his leisure time, Rev. Dr. Bright loves to play hymns on the organ. Rev. Dr. Bright’s joyous attitude is contagious. He never lacks a big smile or joyful laugh. Rev. Bright says his favorite bible verse is Psalm 27:4 because he strives to be like David – a worshipper that desires only one thing; to behold God’s beauty and dwell in the presence of God all the days of his life.
Rev. Dr. Bright is a proud native of Liberia, West Africa. He is the son of The Rev. Canon J. Jellico Bright (a retired Episcopal Priest) and Mrs. Eliatha K. Bright. Rev. Bright attended the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary where he received a Bachelor of Theology Degree with honors. In 2001, he graduated with honors and awards with a Master of Divinity in Theology and Homiletics from the Turner Theological Seminary at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2008, he received his Doctor of Ministry Degree also with honors from the ITC in Atlanta, Georgia. Rev. Dr. Bright is married to the beautiful Mrs. Retta “Sugarpea” Bright and they are the proud parents of Tar-U-Way Jr. and lovely, TaRetta Melody. |

Thyrsa M. GravelyThyrsa M. Gravely is a seasoned strategic management and implementation professional with a hybrid combination of consulting, operations, as well as program and project management experience.
Thyrsa is an independent consultant who assists companies with business operations, strategic initiatives and project management. Previously, she led the Sales Support Operations team at E*TRADE Financial Corporate Services and served in roles with Deloitte’s IT Services Operations which included relationship management, strategy, operations and process improvement.Before Deloitte, she was Pro Business Operations Manager at The Home Depot. One of her many accomplishments in this position was the design and roll-out of a loyalty program and website which generated $1 billion in sales. In her volunteer work, Thyrsa serves on the board of advisors of Synchronicity Theatre. She has also served on the boards of local chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Black Data Processing Associates and National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA), as well as led committees of IT Senior Management Forum (ITSMF). Her accolades include Member of the Year of the Metro New York Chapter or NBMBAA, ITSMF Management Associate of the Year and a finalist for Suzi Bass Awards’ Volunteer of the Year.
